We arrived at the track on Monday to set up camp, practice, and tend to anything else that needed to be setup. Once we got that out of the way, we went to our hotel for a good nights sleep and returned the next morning to the site of the first ever GNCC race in Vero Beach. After we got there we watched the minis race, looked at the track, and I went for a warm-up spin on my bicycle, and geared up to race. Before I knew it, it was about time to race and we headed to the starting line. When the flag man lifted up the flag for our row (which was like the 7th row), I kicked the bike once and it started up. I pointed it on an angle to the right hand turn and got a mid-pack start. The first lap was horrible, I wanted to quit, but then again I didn’t. I was eating dust, passing slower people; all of this seemed to last forever. When we started the second lap it all seemed to clear, less people/dust. Then it became fun. On the 4th lap, the last lap, I put a hole in my radiator. Then to make it worse, my bike ran out of gas, so I had to turn it on reserve. At the end of the race I would get second. And 36th overall.
