What a weekend. I got to fly to not so sunny California and race. The beginning was great, I got to hang with Joe McKimmy from Dirt Rider Magazine. He picked me up from the airport and we went straight to work on our race weapons. I was borrowing a 250 xcf-w from Dirt Rider(thanks guys). The bike was in great shape, it just needed some fresh Maxxis tires and Enduro Engineering handguards. We left LA at 9:00 am and headed to the track. We rolled in listening to Ez E and the sun was bright. All afternoon we talked about how good it will be if it does not rain over the night, and sure enough it rained all night long. We awoke to a muddy mess in the pits. Surprisingly the traction was primo. The first half of the day would have been nice to be on a 525, super fast and wide open. The second half was a completely different story. This definitely separated the men from the boys. It was very technical and you had to be on your toes. With only 34 finishers I finish 25th overall. I was not very happy with the results but it’s a long season and I’m in it for the championship, and like bad billy says “one race does not make someone a champion”. A huge thanks goes out to Alan Randt at Enduro Engineering, Dirt Rider, Maxxis Tires, Motul, Lansing Cycle, KTM, Scott USA, Scorpion Helmets, Hammer Nutrition, and Team Manager Marc Heim.
