PRESS RELEASE - Heimjoint Racing team continues to roll

Heimjoint Racing team continues to roll

SALINE, MI (April 4, 2007) - Heimjoint Racing team members Stephen Edmondson and Chris Gallt competed this past weekend at the third round of the AMA FMF National Enduro Series in Port Elizabeth, NJ. The KTM mounted riders enjoyed the conditions and the course layout to the tune of fifth overall and second place four-stroke A for Stephen and Chris respectively. The tight New Jersey woods made for an awesome race as the local club always puts on a good event.

This most recent race caps off a month long stretch of racing for the team that began back at the Sandlapper Enduro in Pelion, South Carolina, where teammates Stephen Edmondson and Jordan Mapes each enjoyed relatively trouble free days and success in their respective classes. Stephen ended the day second overall and first in the AA class, while Jordan finished second in 200C.

At the first GNCC of the year in Vero Beach, Florida, the hot and dusty conditions took their toll on most riders. The predominantly sandy course, littered with palmettos, was the perfect terrain for the Maxxis SM sand tires. Enjoying the traction they provided, Jordan raced his way to second in the 12-17 year old schoolboy class despite a punctured radiator. Stephen's day was hampered by fuel issues late as he was charging through the pack ultimately finishing 21st in the premier XC1 class.

Having survived the GNCC with bikes relatively intact and perhaps a little less skin on their hands, the team moved on to the classic Alligator Enduro in Daytona Beach, Florida. Stephen clearly enjoyed the event, as he was the only rider to tie eventual winner Mike Lafferty in every section but the first. Unfortunately, those early points would cost Stephen and he was unable to close the gap, finishing the day 3rd overall.

The Can-Am GNCC series then steered north to Washington, Georgia. The rough, chewed up GA clay took it's toll on the crew. Jordan fought his way to 5th place on the day and Stephen's day was cut short as his chain dislodged and wedged itself firmly, requiring a trip to the pits for tools to finally remedy the issue.

Next in line was a trip to the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina and the scenic event at Morganton. Sunshine and atypical warm temperatures greeted the riders. Jordan started the race in 12th and had to claw his way through the pack to an eventual 4th place. He now sits 3rd in the series standings. Chris Gallt had a race to forget as he came back to the pits after a couple miles on the first lap, the victim of a broken 3rd gear. Thankfully he caught the problem early and minimized the damage to the motor, but unfortunately for him, his day was done.

It's been a long month and the riders and their families look forward to the 2 week break to recharge and come back strong at our next race in Union, South Carolina.
